hello from the other side of the TAHINI BABY book tour US events! it feels like I was just recapping the first week for you guys — time flies when you’re having fun (and living at the airport!)
since then, it’s been more of the same in the best way possible: my face literally hurts from smiling so much over these past few weeks! seeing all of you cooking from the book and tagging me in your photos, it’s a true dream.
as a reminder, this veg-packed best-seller(!) is available to purchase both online and irl at your local bookstore (if it’s not there, you can ask them to order it!)
here’s where we left off, and all the goodness/deliciousness that’s happened since then!
first up: LA
we strategically stayed in koreatown during our time in LA, so we could have access to alllll the yummy food. on our first night, we ate at BCD tofu house and got jjigae (a savory, spicy, ultra-flavorful Korean stew) which felt like a big HUG after our many hours of travel. it’s honestly one of my favorite meals, and I went back for bibimbap two days later. worth the wait!

the next day, we were at the wilshire boulevard temple with Jewish food lab and Rachel Simons – author of “sesame” and founder of one of my fave tahini brands, seed+mill. it was emotional being in that beautiful space with so many of you, connecting with community, and doing what we do best – cooking and eating!
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what it’s like being Jewish in the public eye right now, and it makes me emotional every time. i’m so grateful for this community, and my mission to bring positivity and pride through my work has never been clearer.
we went to great white for dinner afterwards and I had a margarita that hit the spot and a salmon coconut curry bowl (which was so yum!)
I even had time to squeeze in a much-needed korean spa break with my friend, randi, before we zipped down to costa mesa for a signing at williams sonoma. if I could live inside a store…this is it. and these beautiful ladies brought me a custom bag with my favorite people on it 🥺

of course, no trip to LA is complete without a stop at in-n-out burger. my social media manager, jess, had never been there, and I needed to change that immediately. we booked it over straight from the event and went with animal style, obviously!

next up, seattle
we had basically no time in seattle – can you sense a pattern here? 😅 but the weather was gorgeous so we enjoyed some sun before heading to book larder, a must-visit culinary bookstore (which has signed copies of TAHINI BABY in-store!). i’m blown away by how cool and funny you all are. genuinely the best feeling to connect irl.

we asked everyone for dinner recs and walrus & carpenter came up over and over, so we had to stop by after the signing. oysters and a martini…name a better duo. it was cozy and did not disappoint!
the next morning, I was on studio 13 live to talk all things tahini (of course) and then we popped down to biscuit bitch (perfect name, perfect biscuits).

then we strolled around pike place market, and I got lunch with my girl, kristin kish at le pichet. both of our books came out on April 22nd so we were on a similar book tour and we finally overlapped. her book is a memoir called “accidentally on purpose” and I obviously picked up my copy, and can’t wait to read it!

then, chicago!
are you tired yet!? me neither 😂 so let’s keep going. the next morning we were en route to chicago where I was so excited to see my co-writer + total powerhouse, rachel holzman. we got to do an event at her middle school with 200 people (!) which was sooooo sweet.

the next day, rachel and I got a coffee at doma cafe and got to catch up for the first time in forever. and in the evening, I had an event at the book cellar! I got to hang with everyone and it felt very intimate. plus, there was wine and food from the book which was such a treat. we hung out in the stacks and got the cutest group photo at the end!
after the signing, we went to bistro campagne which I highly recommend. we had the ultimate celebratory trifecta: red wine, mussels, and steak frites. yummmmmmmm 😍 also, saw a few of the signing attendees there so we got some extra 1-1 time!
from there, I had a quick 36 hours in toronto before popping over to nyc with my mom. so grateful for her support over the last few months, i’d be lost without her. while we were there we had to stop in at via carota for a delicious lunch.
and then, miami with Ido!
I met up with Ido in miami where he moderated an event with me at the hub! he was nervous (don’t tell him I told you…) but he absolutely killed it. and speaking for myself, it was so comforting to have him there with me :) later on, we got korean bbq at COTE as a pre-celebration for his birthday!!

and finally – philly (!)
SURPRISE! the next morning (ido’s actual birthday), we were on the move to my final U.S. tour stop – philadelphia! we immediately headed to mawn for their lunch service (apparently it’s impossible to get a res for dinner!) and it was absolutely insane. one of the best meals I had on the whole trip.

my very last U.S. event was at the weitzman museum, moderated by my dear friend – the one and only, mike solomonov. that evening, we feasted at mike’s restaurant, zahav and, of course, the whole meal blew me away. he just gets it.

if you’re wondering how i’m getting through all of these tour stops…same. the hardest part is being away from my girls and Ido, but it was a total treat to have Ido with me for a couple of them! 🤎
but truly, meeting all of you and seeing your excitement about this book and how COOL and SWEET you all are, gives me all the energy I need to keep going. I feel so honored that you’ve all shown up for me, with your books in hand (both TAHINI BABY and EATING OUT LOUD!), and I feel like my heart has grown 10x in size over the last month.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
xo,

Loved reading all of this! Appreciate you so much--your energy is infectious! LA has so much good food, I know it can be hard to choose, but next time, if you have not been, you MUST go to Bavel. So.Damn.Good.
This is a fun one!
