well, there’s no sugarcoating it. summer, with its long days and perfect fruit and veg, is behind us. but now that the is finally settling down, it’s time to focus on the good news: it’s freaking fall. the air is crisp, it’s acceptable to eat soup for every meal, i’m (mostly) not too sweaty to wear actually cute clothes and don’t even get me started on the squash.
ok, fine. i’ll get started on the squash. give it all to me, right now. preferably covered in cheese and crisped to perfection (more on that below).
this newsletter is an homage to all things autumn. because, let’s be honest, juicy tomatoes and watermelon are heavenly, but curling up on the couch is pretty great, too.
sharing a few of my favorite fall things to cook, eat, wear, and more, below.

in the house
byredo tree house candle
there is nothing sexier than a dimly lit room, a glass of red wine and a heavenly-scented candle. this scent from byredo, with notes of cedar, bamboo and sandalwood, is on my must-have list.
parachute wool plaid alpaca throw
looking at this blanket, i can’t help but fantasize about a quiet morning spent sipping coffee with this blanket draped at my feet. related: if anyone with kids knows how to have one of these so-called “quiet mornings,” please let me know. (ps - looking for a more budget-friendly option? this one from anthropologie is also gorge.)

crate & barrel cookie sheet set
it’s finally cool enough to get back to baking, and whether you’re doing a big batch of cookies for a school bake sale or keeping them for yourself (this is a judgment-free zone), this set is a true kitchen essential. not to mention, the slate blue looks gorgeous in the kitchen.

the caza project ceramic bone mug
the caza project is one of my favorite toronto-based home decor and furniture retailers. their pieces are just so special and unique. like this gorgeous, sculptural mug that i want to both use for sipping warm beverages and displaying as a piece of artwork in my kitchen.
in the closet
my love for sézane continues (duh) & I’m so excited about these fall staples.

the ambre shirt
there is nothing better than a crisp, white, button down shirt – except for a crisp, white, button down shirt with adorable details and chic-as-hell buttons. this take on the wardrobe staple from sézane is just the right amount of elevated and makes me feel perfectly polished, so long as i stay away from the kitchen, my kids, or long pasta shapes.

the charly jumper
no one, and i mean no one, does sweaters like sézane. this ribbed jumper is speaking directly to me for fall. i love the wide ribbing and the lightweight feel, but the versatility really sets it over the edge. i’ll be pairing this under blazers, with jeans and trousers, basically any way i can this season.

the livie belt
a great, goes-with-anything belt is hard to find. well, it was hard to find before I found this one. I love it so much that I got it in two colors - purple and black. i love the width, the sleek patent leather look, and the gold hardware. perfection.

the tomboy shirt
my closet is basically an homage to oversized, striped shirts, and i am thrilled to add this one to the collection. the tomboy shirt is simultaneously effortless and tailored, and the blue stripes go so well with my pant of choice, any and all denim. plus, the attention to detail is next level. i mean, mother of pearl buttons? yes, please
in the oven
delicata squash season is fleeting, and this crunchy, cheesy, herby recipe is the perfect way to celebrate. thick rounds of squash are roasted until golden and then covered with plenty of parmesan. it’s quick, easy + a crowd-pleasing side dish (or main event). And be sure to check out some of my other fall must-makes, like chunky minestrone, sheet tray herbed lamb meatballs with squash, and coconut lime squash soup with mint & chili.

ingredients
2 delicata squash
2 tsp fennel seed, lightly toasted
1 tsp coriander seed, lightly toasted
2 cloves garlic
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 ½ tsp aleppo chili- can sub with chili flakes
kosher salt and cracked black pepper to taste
2 cups freshly grated parmesan
directions
preheat the oven to 425 F. slice the delicata squash in ¼ inch thick rounds. remove the seeds on the inside and place the squash in a bowl.
place the lightly toasted coriander seeds and fennel seeds in a mortar and pestle and give a good smash. add in the garlic and smash it into the spices. add in the olive oil, aleppo chili and season with salt and pepper. pour this mixture over the delicata squash and toss everything together.
toss the coated squash pieces into the grated parm making sure to really coat it and place on the parchment lined baking tray. place in the oven and let roast for 20–25 minutes until golden and the cheese really perfumes the house.
remove from the oven and let cool for a couple minutes before removing and serving. When it cools the cheese hardens and it becomes crunchy. it’s so good.
now, back to the couch!
