I love to cook for so many reasons…
but this might be my (and definitely Ido’s) favorite one yet.
I have it on good authority (aka websites that end in .org) that certain foods containing mood-boosting properties like vitamin C, dopamine, and zinc – are all linked to boosting libido…LET’S GO V-DAY!
I’ve always known that food is the best foreplay, but now I have science backing me up.
even better news – a lot of the foods most closely linked to increased libido are foods that are already a major part of so many of my recipes. as if I needed another reason to be obsessed with tahini, you know?
with valentine’s day right around the corner, I thought i’d equip you with the tools to spice up your next date night.
check out these fun, libido-boosting recipes, and my top v-day gifts to serve up on the side :)
fiery recipes, right this way
super seedy crackers + honeynut squash hummus
pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, tahini, garlic – this recipe duo is packed with libido-boosting ingredients and would make for the perfect starter for a home-cooked valentine’s day dinner. this hummus is also so creamy…so, yeah, hot.
fig, honey + pistachio crostini (recipe + video coming soon to @edeneats!)
this appetizer is quick, easy, and delicious + pairs perfectly with a cold, crisp glass of bubbles. with ingredients like pistachio and fig, you’ll start your meal off with a bang.
saffron, pine nut, and garlic spaghetti (recipe + video coming soon to @edeneats!)
you get a triple hitter with this delicious recipe – both saffron and pine nuts are high in antioxidants, and garlic, which could increase blood flow, may help heighten your sex drive. I will NEVER look at garlic the same way again.
pomegranate is one of my favorite fruits, full stop. and knowing they’re filled with antioxidants for improved mood + increased blood flow, they’re going to be all over my v-day table. also, they’re jewel-toned and gorgeous and add a pop of sweet acidity to everything they touch.
not only are sesame seeds a superfood, packed with healthy fats + vitamins, but they’re also packed with zinc, which is great for your libido. also, what’s hotter than a truffle?? p.s.: I actually used my hazelnut, tahini, and chocolate spread here. they are insanely good and hard to stop eating.
espresso cardamom flourless chocolate cake
if you want a show-stopping dessert that’s easy to make and involves serotonin-releasing chocolate, look no further…this cake has got you covered. plus, you can eat this recipe straight out of the pan! no plates are required for this one. just a fork and your lover.
give us all the pomegranate. this time in cocktail mode, paired with fun, floral gin and orange zest. (if you’re more of a wine drinker, i’ve got something exciting coming for you in the next newsletter!)
need gift inspo, too? I’ve got you. set the mood even further with these sexy, on-theme gifts.
an adorable apron to cook valentine’s day dinner in.
heart-shaped cookware because we love love and we love hearts.
a chic fondue set to pair with those mood-lifting strawberries + chocolate.
oyster shucking knives to pair with the world’s sexiest food, natch.
a spice set to keep things, well, spicy. (my faves? fenugreek, saffron + cardamom which are all libido-boosting).
a fiery (literally) candle to set the mood.
a hydrating body oil that’s perfect for massages.
silky pajamas you’ll want to live in.
I love love, and I love you!
